Web 2.0 has brought a wave of fresh developments & universally alluring codes, bringing newer web applications every day into the virtual realm. These applications include chat applets, video sharing ‘tubes’, e-commerce widgets and millions of others. It would not be an exaggeration to say that as you are reading this line, hundreds of such web applications are coming in and going out from the market.
The picture however turns grim when it is you who has developed one of those ‘small time wonders’. An incorrectly planned marketing strategy will often ‘fail’ your product in the viewer’s eyes (as has happened quite frequently) in spite of its potential advantages. Here are a few tips to ensure that your product remains in the market for a justified amount of time (at least till you can pay your registration with the webhosting companies).
Many webhosting companies offer you effective marketing tools to promote your website and/or your product. Viral marketing, though much maligned is actually the preferred way of publicizing your website, owing to its rapid approach to the masses through multiple media. Depending on the category of your app, check the LIST into which it falls & promote accordingly. For example, social networking websites fall under the WAIT list, which means that they should wait till a fair amount of user base is generated before jumping to publicity. Down loaders or chat applets belong to the WALK list which says that they should focus on marketing. The RUN list comprises of applications which should excessively focus on marketing.
